The Nissan 240SX is a successful car introduced by Nissan in 1989 to the North American market to replaced the 200SX (RWD). The 240SX is similar to the other vehicles of Nissan S series: the Japanese-market Silvia and 180SX and the European-market 200SX. The numerals, 240 in the name describe the engine 2.4 L. Initially this car was considered underpowered, and to overcome this model strted to swap the engines. The KA24DE for the Japanese and world-market I4 SR20DET and even the I6 RB series Nissan Skyline engines. These models also came with the option to turbocharge the stock engine The 240SX was equipped with a 2.4-litre inline 4 engine, rear wheel drive, (KA24E from 1989 - 1990 and KA24DE from 1991 - 1998).
Nissan S platform produced two generations of the 240SX: 1989 - 1994: The first generation S13 was introduced. This model was very successful in Japan. The first generation of the 240SXm, S13 was available in two distinct variants: Zenki and Ch 1995 - 1998: The second generation S14 was launched. This was a two door version replacing Sentra.
