The Pontiac Fiero is a mid-engined sports car that was built by the Pontiac part of General Motors. The Pontiac Fiero was introduced in 1984 and was produced for four years till 1988. The name, 'Fiero' means "proud" in Italian and "horny" in Spanish. The Pontiac Fiero was designed by Hulki Aldikacti as a Pontiac sports car. The Fiero was the first two-seater Pontiac since the 1926 to 1938 coupes, and also the first and only mass-produced mid-engine sports car by a U.S. manufacturer.
The Pontiac used advanced technology and many parts that were not used till then. Sprint, P3000, Pegasus, Fiamma, Sunfire, and Firebird XP were the other names that were considered for Pontiac Fiero. The Fiero 2M4 is a well known 2-seat, mid-engined car that used four cylinders. Pontiac Fiero was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1984. The 1984 Fiero was used as the Official Pace Car of the Indianapolis 500. The Pontiac Fiero provided different Transmission and engine options and the Muncie transmission was very powerful and was used with the higher output of the V6 engine.
